Life in First Grade

Hello, Everyone!
First grade has had a busy month during August. We have had a GREAT start to the year. We have completed reading our first three reading stories. We are learning a lot about tame and wild animals. We are learning about jobs that take care of animals. Everyone tried hard on the Star test. Our top AR reader in August is a close race between John and Jaycee. They love to read. We will let you know in September who won! Several other students were very close. I love that they are all excited about reading. Remember our goal is six (6) books each month.
We are looking forward to September. In reading and social studies we will be learning about families and communities. Look for a family tree project in a few weeks. We are excited to have our Grandparents visiting with us soon. We will also learn about Johnny Appleseed. Also, we are planning a trip to the Springer Opera house to see a play and to the Pumpkin Patch in October.  Thank you for allowing me to be your child’s teacher. I have a fantastic group of scholars, who truly enjoy learning. They keep me on my toes! I love their curiosity and willingness to try anything. I am looking forward to a wonderful time of learning for the rest of this year. Thanks for all you do to make sure your student is successful.
